S4A is a way of raising money for African charities through the activities of professional speakers.

It is a really simple concept that works on the basis that not all clients seeking the services of professional speakers have the budget required to pay the speaker's professional fees. In these cases, the speaker may still want to present to the audience and at the same time not wish to compromise their professional fee rate.

Rather than haggle, the speaker can simply choose to waive their fee and ask the client instead to make a donation to their chosen African charity as close to the professional fee as they feel able. The client will also pay the speaker their out of pocket expenses in the normal way.

Of course, the chosen charity doesn't have to be African and speakers don't have to mention S4A. They can still apply the same principles and give a little back to society in the process.

So why have a website? This is simply a way for speakers to offer encouragement to each other, for clients who have booked them to provide feedback and to spread the word about a great idea. There is also the opportunity for speakers to share what they're happy to talk about and for charities to encourage speakers to participate on their behalf.
